Scarboro Calgary Alberta

Scarboro Real Estate & Community Guide

Welcome to Scarboro! As of the 2019 census, this neighbourhood was home to 939 residents.  This small but friendly neighbourhood consists of original homes and new construction.  The curved, tree lined streets really add to the beauty of this neighbourhood.  How did Scarboro get such beautifully designed streets? Back in 1909, CP Rail hired the Olmstead firm to design Scarboro. This firm also created designs for more than 6,000 landscapes across our continent, including Mount Royal Park in Montreal, the grounds of the US Capitol and Central Park.

While no buses run directly within the community, you can access them just on the outer rim of the neighbourhood along 17th Ave SW and 12th Ave SW.  The Sunalta C-Train station is a short walk away. Visit for the full transit schedule and route map. You’ll have instant access to Crowchild Trail, which runs north/south. From there, you’ll be able to access several major routes which will take you east/west, including the Trans-Canada Highway, Memorial Drive and Glenmore Trail. 17th Avenue runs along the southern edge of the neighbourhood, which takes you east to downtown in only minutes, and west to Sarcee Trail for a short drive to the mountains.

17th Avenue is home to numerous restaurants, cafes, services, unique shops. Nearby attractions include the Shaw Millennium Park, Mewata Armouries and Contemporary Calgary. This  spectacular visual arts destination is dedicated to modern and contemporary art, located a short drive away in the Downtown West End.  You’re also only minutes away from the endless attractions and amenities of the downtown core.

The Scarboro Community Association offers a variety of programming for its residents, including a soccer club and preschool.  The association also offers an annual spring garden tour of the resident’s gardens.  A monthly newsletter keeps residents up to date on all the activities, local businesses and human interest stories in the community.  You’ll find the community hall located at 1727 14 Ave SW. Visit the website to stay up to date on all the events and information in Scarboro.

Recreational opportunities within Scarboro include minor soccer, a nearby Calgary Tennis Club and a jiu-jitsu club.  Nearby Oliver Quarry Park is connected to east Scarboro by a pedestrian that spans Crowchild Trail. Here you’ll enjoy a large greenspace with walking paths.

The Bow River Pathway system is a short bike ride away, offering kilometres of paved paths for bikers, joggers and anyone seeking a fun recreational outing.
