Beltline Real Estate & Community Guide
Welcome to the Beltline! This centrally located neighbourhood is located immediately south of Calgary’s downtown (south of 9th Avenue). It is sometimes considered part of the downtown core. The Beltline is bounded on the west by 14th Street SW and on the east by the Elbow River. The Beltline is one of Calgary’s most densely populated communities as well as the most urban, consisting mainly of apartments, condos and office buildings.
First established in 1905, four smaller neighbourhoods make up the Beltline area, including West Connaught, Connaught Centre, Victoria Park and East Victoria Park.
The Beltline is the primary area for nightlife, restaurants and urban culture in Calgary. Living in this community gives you instant access to many of the famed attractions of Calgary, including the Saddledome, BMO Centre (where many large events are held throughout the year), Stampede grounds, and all the fabulous shopping of 17th Avenue.
Living downtown, you’ll expect to encounter heavy traffic throughout the day. 17th Avenue west takes you directly to Sarcee Trail, which gives you quick access to the Trans Canada Highway. MacLeod Trail runs south from the Beltline, giving you quick access to the southern neighbourhoods of Calgary. There are multiple transit options available in this community, including several C-Train stations that run north along 7th Avenue. Visit www.calgarytransit.com for full schedules and maps.
As of 2020, Beltline was home to just over 25, 129 residents in apartment and condominium complexes.
