Quarry Park Real Estate & Community Guide
Located in Southeast Calgary, the mixed-use community of Quarry Park was originally a development used for gravel production that continued on for about 50 years despite being surrounded by residential communities. In 2005 it was purchased by a developer for residential use.
Presently, the neighbourhood is made up of residential developments, generous amounts of green space and pathways, grocery stores, as well as corporate office space, and commercial buildings.
Homes in Quarry Park are made up of detached homes, townhomes, as well as homes on wide-open lots that sit on the riverfront. Architectural styles include French Country, Georgian, and European giving the neighbourhood a diverse feel.
Quarry Park is an attractive community for commuting, with easy access to Deerfoot Trail, Glenmore Trail, and Barlow Trail. Bus routes 24 and 302 service those who prefer not to drive within Calgary, and a future LRT station is in the makings. For now, residents can use bus transit to reach the Anderson and Chinook LRT stations.
Built on the banks of the Bow River, outdoor recreation consists of beautiful scenery along paths where residents can enjoy peaceful walks or bike rides. During the summer months, Calgarians enjoy floating, kayaking, and paddleboarding on the river to cool off on a hot summer day.
Year-round recreational activities can be accessed at the new and state-of-the-art Quarry Park (Remington YMCA) Recreation Facility. Here residents can enjoy swimming pools, a fitness center, sports gymnasiums, running track, as well as childcare and programs. There is also a full-service Calgary Public Library in the building that serves families of the Quarry Park community.
Residents of Quarry Park share the Douglas Quarry Community Association with the Douglas Glen and Douglasdale communities. There are several programs to take part in, as well as several engaging events hosted by the association throughout the year.
The Quarry Park Market offers retail shops, restaurants and cafes, banks, professional services including a medical center, as well as a daycare center for working parents, ensuring residents don’t need to travel far to have their needs met.
Families have the options of public, separate, and french immersion schools for their children to attend.
