McKenzie Lake is located just off of Deerfoot Trail in the southeast of Calgary. It is bounded by the Bow River to the west, Stoney Trail to the south, Deerfoot Trail to the east and 130th Avenue to the north. This lake community offers residents access to a private lake which has recreational opportunities such as: tennis courts, basketball courts, a beach volleyball area, and a toboggan hill. Summer activities include swimming in the lake, sunbathing on the sandy beach areas, fishing and access to 18 acres of park land. In the winter the lake is transformed into a skating area which is groomed and maintained by the association. Warm up by the fire pits which are located around the skating area.
McKenzie Lake’s location is ideal as it offers access to two main highways. Stoney Trail offers easy access to the mountains for those weekend day trips to go hiking. The large shopping area of Sheppard is located a short drive across Deerfoot Trail and offers access to numerous retail stores, big box stores and professional services. The YMCA has several facilities located all within a 10 minute drive of the community. In addition to the lake access and proximity to recreational facilities McKenzie Lake backs onto Fish Creek Park which has many walking and biking trails and beautiful views of the mountains.
