Auburn Bay Real Estate & Community Guide
With more than eighty percent of its residents under the age of 45 (according to the 2016 Census), Auburn Bay is one of Calgary’s youngest communities. It’s also one of the newest. Completed in 2010, its “cottage country” atmosphere is the result of purposeful architectural design by Carma Developers, which has a half-century of award-winning community development in its portfolio.
At the heart of this community is a 43-acre lake complete with pristine beaches, a 13-acre park and Auburn House. The private community center offers various year-round programs, drop-in classes, events and sports activities. And don’t forget about the many other recreational opportunities Auburn Bay affords its residents. There are more than a dozen parks and playgrounds, paved walking/cycling paths, soccer fields, baseball fields and an off leash dog park complete with an agility run and fenced in training areas.
Housing in Auburn Bay ranges from luxury lakefront homes and other single detached homes to duplexes, townhomes, and affordable condos. Most homeowners in Auburn Bay have post-secondary education (college or university) and a higher household income than the Calgary average. And, a significant majority of the community’s 17 thousand-plus residents are families. Auburn Bay is a popular residential oasis.
There are currently two schools in the community, a K-4 public school and a K-9 Catholic school, with plans to open a public middle school (grades 5-9) in 2022.
Found in Calgary’s deep south, Auburn Bay has easy access to Deerfoot Trail and Stoney Trail. Restaurants and shopping are in nearby communities and the new South Health Campus is just minutes away.
