Located in Northwest Calgary, the small suburban community of Sandstone Valley is well established and family-oriented. It’s an attractive neighbourhood for outdoor enthusiasts looking for ample recreational opportunities, with its prime location next to Nose Hill Park, one of Canada’s largest urban parks.
Commuting to other parts of Calgary is stress-free as the community sits center in a ring of easily accessible major roads. Country Hills Blvd borders its north, Beddington Trail it’s east, Berkshire Blvd it’s south, and 14 Street W to its east. This prime location offers residents shopping experiences of all kinds. The largest shopping complexes are Harvest Hills Crossing, Creekside Shopping Centre and Beddington Towne Centre, providing a wide variety of retail shopping, restaurants, entertainment and services. Country Hills Towne Centre is also close with grocery stores such as Sobeys and Superstore, as well as several big-box stores including Home Depot and Canadian Tire.
With an abundance of parks, green spaces and playing fields, as well as the nearby Nose Hill Park, outdoor space is unlimited. Several paths throughout the community connect to the Nose Hill Park System providing endless options for walking, biking and running. Golf Enthusiasts have several prestigious golf courses close at hand for the summer months, while the modern Vivo Place provides families with indoor options such as swimming, sports, fitness, and more during the winter months. Vivo also serves the community with a public library and programs.
Sandstone Valley shares its Community Association with the MacEwan community. Building a community through connections, as well as encouraging its members to support and buy local goods is an important part of its mission. Activities, programs and events are common throughout the year, while outdoor skating rinks bring families together during the winter months, and a community garden during the summer months.
There are two elementary schools that serve families in Sandstone Valley, one public and one separate. Nearby communities provide additional schools for junior high school and high school.
