Parkdale Real Estate & Community Guide
Parkdale is a well-established inner-city neighbourhood that lies along the north side of the Bow River and is located between the communities of Point McKay and West Hillhurst. First established in 1910, the majority of development didn’t take place until the late 1940’s. Parkdale consists mainly of low-density residential dwellings but has experienced a continued increase in density through development over the last 20 years with the appearance of new infills attracting young families with children.
Parkdale has excellent access to major transit arteries and shopping areas via Memorial Drive, Highway 1, Shaganappi, and Crowchild Trails. Located adjacent to the Bow River Pathway System, you’ll enjoy plenty of recreational opportunities.
Nearby attractions and important services include the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, McMahon Stadium, Foothills Medical Centre, and the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
The Parkdale Community Association offers its residents a large variety of programming and events at their Community Hall (located at 3512-5 Avenue NW). You’ll be sure to find something that interests you while getting you connected to fellow community members. Be sure to check out the Parkdale Community Association website for a full list of programs available: http://parkdalecommunity.com/ or visit their Facebook page (which is updated on a very regular basis)
The Parkdale Community Association offers a few different sports programs for residents. Nearby you’ll find the Shaganappi Point Golf Course and the Shouldice Athletic Park, which offers multiple baseball diamonds, soccer fields, and football fields. Parkdale is located next to the Karl Baker off-leash park which offers plenty of green space, treed areas, and pathways.
