Hounsfield Heights/Briar Hill is an inner-city neighbourhood located in the NW quadrant of Calgary. This neighbourhood consists of both residential and commercial properties. Developed in the 1950s, you’ll find both original houses and stunning new builds. Certain areas of Hounsfield Heights/Briar Hill offer views of downtown to the south and the Rocky Mountains to the west.
Getting around the city is an ease as you’ll be living directly near three major access points – Highway 1 (called 16th Ave within the city limits) runs directly along the north border of Hounsfield Heights-Briar Hill. This route will take you west/east across the city. Crowchild Trail runs along the western edge of the community, giving you quick north-south access. 14th Street NW runs along the eastern edge, taking you directly into the downtown core. There is a C-Train station located directly within the community, so getting around via transit is a breeze.
Hounsfield Heights/Briar Hill is home to the North Hill Shopping Centre, which offers a large variety of retailers, services and restaurants.
The Hounsfield Heights/Briar Community Association offers something for every resident at their community hall located at 1922 14 Ave NW. Unique to this community association is an outdoor exercise park where adults can workout for free at 11 different stations. Also located on the grounds of the community association hall is a fire hall and the Louise Riley Library. The Hounsfield Heights/Briar Hill Community Association offers a badminton and soccer program for youth. There are off leash parks within the community for you to roam with your beloved canine companion. As well, nearby you’ll find the West Hillhurst Park which is home to baseball diamonds and soccer fields. You’ll enjoy close proximity to the famous Riley Park, which offers a large greenspace for walking and picnics, cricket pitches, as well as a massive wading pool for the kids to cool off in the summer. Just north of Hounsfield Heights-Briar Hill is the Confederation Park Golf Course.
