Centrally located, you can easily access several major routes from Highwood including McKnight Boulevard, 14th Street NW, John Laurie Boulevard and 4th Street NW. If you work downtown, you can expect a drive time of approximately 17 minutes. Three main bus routes serve the community, including Route #2, #20 and #38. Highwood is close to many parks including:
Bottomlands Park: Features a playground, natural areas, picnic areas, pathways, and an off-leash area.
Egert’s Park: Features paved trails and an off-leash area.
Confederation Park: This crescent-shaped park is over 400 acres in area, featuring pathways, tennis courts, baseball diamonds, picnic areas, natural playgrounds, tobogganing, cross country skiing, picnic sites, and a wetland.
Nose Hill Park – A tranquil, spacious park known for its abundant wildlife and hiking trails. Fabulous place to take your dog (but be sure to bring bug spray in the warm months!)
The Highwood Outdoor Swimming Pool is operated by the Highwood Community Association in partnership with the Calgary Outdoor Swimming Pools Association. In the winter, strap on your skates and glide across the outdoor skating rink (run by the Highwood Community Association), located at 16 Harlow Avenue NW.
