Banff Trail Real Estate & Community Guide
Base yourself in Banff Trail
Established in 1952, this community is a well-established neighbourhood in Calgary’s northwest. Banff Trail was one of the last areas of Calgary where home lots were purchased directly from the City and not from a developer.
One of the most unique features of the area is “Motel Village”, the name for the commercial district that fills the triangular parcel of land located between 16th Avenue NW, Crowchild Trail and Banff Trail, across from McMahon Stadium. There is an area redevelopment plan in place and a number of new hotels have been built in the area over the past few years.
The community is served by a great variety of Calgary Board of Education Schools. Branton Bilingual Junior High School and William Aberhart Bilingual Senior High public, are just a bus ride away! The University of Calgary grounds border the community to the west, and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology to the south.
With its close proximity to both the University of Calgary and SAIT, Banff Trail is highly sought after by families, professors, students, and professionals alike.
The Banff Trail Community Association, started in 1954, was created to attend to the many needs of its community members.
As part of ward 7, it is located northeast of the intersection of Crowchild Trail and the Trans-Canada Highway, east of McMahon Stadium and the University of Calgary.
