Castleridge Real Estate & Community Guide
Established in 1980, Castleridge is a low-density residential community found in Northeast Calgary where residents can enjoy beautiful city views of downtown as well as stunning mountain views. A community focused on relaxing and connecting, it is easy to make friends in this close-knit and peaceful community.
Fresh air and beautiful green spaces complete with playgrounds make for a perfect family day out. Prairie Winds Park, recently redeveloped with new features including a large wading pool, is one of Castleridge’s local attractions. Complete with tennis and basketball courts, soccer fields, cricket pitch, playgrounds, picnic shelters and a spray park, it is a popular destination in the summer months. When it snows, kids and adults alike enjoy flying down the tobogganing hill on their sleds. Falshire Park is another nearby park to be enjoyed, while a short 10-minute drive provides golfers with their choice of the Silver Wing Golf Course or the McCall Lake Golf Course for a relaxing summer’s day.
The Falconridge/Castleridge Community Association has been active since 1981 and offers an abundance of programs and activities to be enjoyed by residents of all ages. Families looking for childcare will appreciate the Preschool Centre it runs, as well as a program for before and after school care.
There are three grade schools within the community, with neighbouring communities providing additional choices, as well as a Montessori Preschool and Kindergarten Daycare also serving the community.
Residents of Castleridge don’t have to go far to reach a number of amenities. The Calgary International Airport is just to the west of the community making it easy for travelling or visitors. C-Train access is quick and accessible at the McKnight-Westwinds Station, and there are several transit routes for convenient commuting throughout Calgary. The Don Hartman North East Sportsplex comes alive in the winter and is home to 2 NHL-sized ice rinks, a large gymnasium, as well as a large dining lounge and a sports bar to hang with friends while watching a game.
Shopping, retail, dining and personal services can be enjoyed at Castleridge Plaza, as well as the nearby McKnight Village Center, home to over 60 retail stores and restaurants.
