Bridgeland-Riverside Calgary Alberta

Bridgeland-Riverside Real Estate & Community Guide

Welcome to Bridgeland-Riverside

an inner city community located just north east of the downtown core. A great location for families looking for close proximity to the downtown core, access to natural landscapes and fabulous community spirit. You’re minutes to the hustle and bustle of downtown, but you get to live in a neighbourhood with a fun village vibe!

Originally called “Germantown”, this neighbourhood was first settled by Russian-German immigrants who came to Calgary during the 1880’s. By 1908 the community name was changed to Bridgeland-Riverside and was annexed to Calgary in 1910.

Living in Bridgeland-Riverside gives you quick access to many popular attractions such as Telus Spark science centre, Calgary Zoo and St. Patrick’s Island. This quirky neighbourhood is home to shops that sell hard-to-find magazines, vinyl and gourmet foods, and the local dining scene is a mix of relaxed family-run Italian eateries and ramen and burger joints. This neighbourhood is primarily residential, however, with a mix of single family homes and park-side condos.

Getting around the city is easy with almost instant access to Memorial Drive, which will take you east-west across the city.  Deerfoot Trail is located directly east of the neighbourhood, giving you quick access to the north or south part of the city.  Downtown is across the Bow river, and easily accessible via the 4th Street flyover.  The Bridgeland-Memorial C-Train station will take you downtown as well, or if you’re a walker/runner or cyclist, you’re only minutes away from downtown with many easy to access paths and bridges.

The Bridgeland-Riverside Community Association serves its community and keeps its residents engaged with a variety of programming and sporting activities.  It stays active in city affairs which affect the community and advocates on behalf of residents.  Be sure to check out the community association’s website https://www.brcacalgary.org/ or visit their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/BRCACalgary/

Tom Campbell’s Hill Natural Park is located within Bridgeland-Riverside, which features skyline views, hiking trails & a large off-leash area for dogs.  Murdoch Park (located on the grounds of the Bridgeland-Riverside community hall) has a fabulous playground for children, and features a massive greenspace for soccer and many other recreational activities. In the winter, you can enjoy outdoor skating on the rink located beside the community association centre. Bridgeland-Riverside is also home to tennis courts, various playgrounds, toboggan run, off-leash dog park and baseball field.
