Calgary International Airport Real Estate & Community Guide
Fondly called YYC by locals and located 17 kilometers from downtown Calgary is YYC Calgary International Airport. With a brand new International Terminal that opened in October of 2016, this state-of-the-art airport is a sight to see. YYC is the fourth busiest airport in Canada and is spread across 21.36sq kilometers and has four runways and five concourses for passengers. This area also houses two terminal buildings, various warehouses for cargo handling, and other infrastructure on the grounds.
Arriving at YYC? Look for our White Hat Volunteers who are celebrating 30 years of volunteering this year; they are sure to welcome you in style. These exceptional volunteers are available to assist in answering all of your questions and you may even get a real western “yahoo” from them. The YYC Calgary International Airport has easy access to downtown. Catch the #300 BRT Calgary Transit Bus and arrive in downtown Calgary within 35 minutes, or take rideshare, Taxi, or rent a car, which is all located on-site. Want to stay closer to the airport, no problem, there are many hotels in the near vicinity for your pleasure.
Departing YYC or picking up a passenger? Onsite parking and a convenient “cell phone” lot ensure you have plenty of options for picking up or dropping off passengers. Economy lots and long-term parking options are located close by and ensure you will have your vehicle upon your return home. Don’t forget to check out the many shops and dining options available within the airport prior to your departure.
No trips planned? No worries grab yourself a coffee and head to McKnight Boulevard and Aviation Road NE, which is arguably one of the best places to watch the flights arriving and departing daily. You might even see a Disney plane or a large cargo plane.
Regardless of if you are arriving, departing, or just dreaming of your next trip, YYC has everything you might need from Western hospitality, easy land transport, parking, hotels, shopping, restaurants, and plane sightings.
