Royal LePage Benchmark 2019 Recap
It was a great year for the team at Royal LePage Benchmark! As a team we hit all of our 2019 business goals and managed to make a significant impact in communities and homes of people in the Calgary real estate area. The company raised over $100,000 in charitable donations that is allocated to help women and children that are victims of domestic violence. The team hosted a number of events to engage the community and raise these funds.
We kicked off 2019 hosting “A Night in Morocco” which was a fundraising dinner offering attendees an authentic Moroccan dinner and entertainment. The event came about by our team members Wayne Nelson and Chris Pitman participating in the Royal LePage Challenge for Shelter. An event that agents sign up and are selected for nationally by Royal LePage Canada. The participating agent had to pay all of their own expenses and raise a minimum of $5000 to participate. They then traveled to Morocco and Trekked over 100 kms in the Sahara Desert.
The desert does funny things to a person and our team members told stories of the isolation and difficulties of life there. They say the experience allowed them to understand some of the struggles the benefactors of the donations experience in their daily lives and a deeper understanding of why we build relationships and help people.
We also conducted our annual Golf Skills Challenge this year. Our team brought the Golf community together and held a fantastic event that raised a huge sum for the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation.
All of the money raised for the Shelter Foundation stays in the local communities and here in Calgary, Royal LePage Benchmark supports the Childrens Cottage and the YWCA Sheriff King Home.
Our next event was the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes that took place at the South Centre Mall. The event brought together over 100 walkers from in and around Calgary to include the Calgary Police Force, Fire Department and the Municipal government. The walk was well attended and a lot of fun.
In November Royal LePage Benchmark agent participated in a newly formed partnership with the Calgary Hitmen around our annual toy drive. There was over 12,000 in toys donated during the initiative. With all of these fundraisers on top of our local community events and business we still managed to have a lot of fun.
Below is a video that tells the story.
