Capitol Hill is a primarily residential neighbourhood in NW Calgary. It is located directly north of 16th Ave NW (the Trans-Canada Highway) and is bordered by 10th Street NW on the east and 19th Street NW on the west. The famous Confederation Park covers the north boundary of Capitol Hill. Capitol Hill is surrounded by the communities of Banff Trail, Rosemont, Mount Pleasant, and Hounsfield Heights/Briar Hill. Capitol Hill was first established in 1948, with the majority of construction taking place in the 1950’s. As of the 2019 census, Capitol Hill had 4,744 residents living in 2,440 dwellings.
Public transit is very easily accessible in Capitol Hill. You’ll have direct access to the Red Line, which offers service between Tuscany to Somerset/Bridlewood C-Train line. This line will take you downtown in minutes! You can hop on the Red Line at the Lions Park Station, located just south of Capitol Hill Numerous bus routes service Capitol Hill, serving 10th, 14th and 19th Street NW, as well as 20th Ave NW. The Orange Max Line (Brentwood - Saddletown) runs along 16th Ave NW, which offers rapid bus service to major destinations such as Foothills Medical Centre, University of Calgary, SAIT, Peter Lougheed Centre and the Genesis Centre.

The Capitol Hill Community Association is extremely active, offering various arts and fitness classes. Its goal is to provide an inclusive, family friend atmosphere to accurately represent the diverse population of its community. The Capitol Hill Community Garden is located on the grounds of the Community Centre, which consists of raised garden beds growing food, flowers and herbs. Nose Hill Park - Capitol Hill enjoys direct access to the spectacular Nose Hill Park via 14th Street NW. This tranquil, spacious park is known for its abundant wildlife and hiking trails. A fabulous place to take your dog.Riley Park: This park is located a few minutes SE of Capitol Hill. Riley Park offers plenty of green space with a cricket pitch, picnic tables, and a wonderful wading pool for the little ones in the warmer months. You’ll also find the Senator Patrick Burns Memorial Rock Garden within Riley Park. While in Riley Park, you’re only walking distance to the wonderful shops and services of Kensington.
