South Calgary, established in 1914, is a residential neighbourhood located in Calgary’s southwest. With a close proximity to downtown, South Calgary has seen substantial new infill construction and there is an area redevelopment plan in place.

Marda Loop, one of the busiest and most vibrant shopping destinations in Calgary is located in the community. Garrison Woods and Altadore & River Park neighbourhoods form the southern boundary of this established inner city neighbourhood.

The community of South Calgary has an outdoor swimming pool, community hall and several parks along with the Giuffre Family Library.

As part of ward 8, it is located between 14th Street west and Crowchild Trail.
