Established in 1960, this southeast community with its mature and dense urban forest, has seen its popularity rise even more in recent years thanks to major renovations and upgrades to an increasing number of homes.  Single detached homes on wide lots (many houses are spaced apart by about 3 meters, or triple the current standard) comprise fifty per cent of the housing. Almost two-thirds of those are bungalows; a small number are split-levels or two-storeys, and the rest are a mix of row housing and condo apartments. It’s appealing for homeowners and renters alike.

Conveniently located between the major transportation routes of Heritage Drive and Southland Drive and between MacLeod and Blackfoot Trails, Acadia’s more than 11 thousand residents have quick access to the downtown, or other areas within and outside of the city. There are transit stops throughout the community and the Heritage C-train station is close by. Cyclists and pedestrians can take advantage of the city’s pathway system along the nearby Bow River valley.

Shopping, services and restaurants are located primarily on the periphery of this community and feature everything from home improvement, dental and banking to groceries, fine dining,  pharmacies and many more.
