Somerset Community Guide
Somerset-Bridlewood is a relatively new community in Calgary as it was fully established in 1987.
You are a 5 min drive that will take you to Highway 22x/Spruce Meadows Trail straight out to Bragg Creek to see Elbow Falls, or if you want to take a stroll along the Bow River, or go visit Princess Island Park, hop on MacLeod Trail and take a 25 min drive north into Calgary’s downtown.
But if a scenic walk, bike ride or day picnic is your cup of tea, you are mere minutes from the 2n d largest urban nature preserve in Canada with Fish Creek Park. Miles and Miles of paved or dirt paths, lakes and even day picnic enclosures with fire pits.
Fish Creek is shared by numerous surrounding communities like Sundance, Midnapore,, Mountain Park, Deer Run, Parkland, Lake Bonaventure, Canyon Meadows, Shawnee Slopes, Woodlands, Woodbine and Evergreen.
But Somerset-Bridlewood is, like most mini communities in Calgary is self-sufficient in its own right.
The Shawnessy Village Shopping Center is conveniently located right across the street from the Library and Rec center where you have access to 250 shops and services.
The closest Medical Center is South Campus that is located just 10 mins away in Seton, but there is a medical clinic and emergency care facility located in Sundance, which is directly across Macloud Trail.
Bus routes 14 & 52 run through Somerset. The Somerset-Bridlewood CTrain Station provides transportation for residents.
