Renfrew Real Estate & Community Guide

Welcome to the vibrant inner-city neighbourhood of Renfrew! It was established in the 1940’s and was originally built primarily for veterans and their families.

Renfrew is bordered by Edmonton Trail to the west, Deerfoot Trail to the east, 16th Ave (Trans-Canada Highway) to the north and the neighbourhood of Bridgeland to the south. All three of these major routes provide quick and easy access to all areas of Calgary. As of 2019, Renfrew was home to just over 6,500 residents.

As a resident of this community, you’ll be able to easily access a variety of independently owned shops, cafes and restaurants located along Edmonton Trail.  You can easily access all the amenities of the downtown core via Edmonton Trail.  You’re within walking distance to Telus Spark, one of Calgary’s most popular attractions, and the Calgary Zoo is just a few minutes south of there. Even with that close proximity to the downtown core, Renfrew offers a “small town” neighbourhood feel for young families looking for a convenient location without the hustle and bustle.

Many of the homes in this area are still the original bungalows however new infills are beginning to replace these homes, giving the area a new look. Tree lined streets really add to the beauty of this neighbourhood!

The Renfrew Community Association keeps its residents engaged with a variety of programming, including a co-operative parent playgroup, a “Jelly Bean and Candy Rave” for the kids, and an amazing community garden. This community association is all about supporting the variety of fabulous local business within the community.  Be sure to check out the community association’s website https://www.renfrewyyc.ca/ or visit their Facebook page.

Renfrew is a community that offers something for all ages, with a variety of fitness facilities, fields and playgrounds. One of The Calgary Boys and Girls Club locations is located directly in the community. Tom Campbell’s Hill off leash area is within walking distance.  Within Renfrew, you will find the Bottomlands Park, the city-run Renfrew Aquatic and Fitness Centre, the Renfrew Athletic Park and two arenas. If you’re an avid cyclist, runner or walker, you will love your direct access to the pathway system of the Nose Creek Bike path, which connects with the west Nose Creek pathways and in the south with the Bow River pathways.
